Part 2: Whose money is it anyway?—by Ivor Botha and Erick Li Sik

April 24, 2023

Sermon summary:

Erick:

God warns us to save us from pain, and to make it to heaven His warnings about money include:

#warning1: Weath is deceitful. Mark 4:19. The desire for things is different for all of us.

Proverbs 11:28 Whoever trust in riches will fall.

#warning2: Don't be arrogant and put yr hope in money. 1 Timonthy 6:17, V9–10

Matthew 6:19 It's the love of money that is the root of all evil.

#warning3: You can't love both God and money. Trust God to take care of you. Look in the mirror and answer the question of who you love.

Ivor:

How did the concept of tithing come about?

Genesis 14:18–20 Abraham was the first to give God a tenth of all he had.

Genesis 28:20–22 Jacob asked God to take care of him and his family.

Teach your children to put God first. It's not natural to give, we need to be held accountable.

Malachi 3:6–12 God doesn't change. Return to him. Don't rob God with tithes and offering; when we don't give all we promised, we turn away from him. God gives us everything.

Verse 13–18 Talk to those who serve and fear God.

Proverbs 21:26 The righteous give without sparing.
