Biblical Parenting: Taming the Tongue—by Chris & Luna Rathebe

June 22, 2025

Sermon recap:

Family consisting of a father, mother and two children.

Words have incredible power—they can give life or cause deep hurt. The way we speak reflects who we are, so it’s important to choose our words with care. Gracious, thoughtful speech encourages growth and understanding, while negative or careless words can do lasting harm. As followers of Jesus, we're called to speak in ways that build others up, especially our children. Let’s be mindful, avoid double-speak, and use words that bring hope, healing, and encouragement to those around us.

Psalm 23 paints God as our shepherd—guiding, providing, and protecting. In Jesus, the Good Shepherd, we find the same care. Choose godly community over isolation, grow through mentorship, and live to reflect his love in a world that needs it daily, faithfully.

Jesus, the Bread of Life, meets our deepest needs. We chase power, comfort, and distractions, yet still feel empty. True satisfaction is found in him alone. Feed your soul daily with God’s Word before anything else, and let him be your centre.
