A Clash of Worlds—by Rodwell Mugochi

September 5, 2022

Sermon summary:

Matthew 21:1–9 Pontius Pilate marched into Jerusalem as a show of force on a white stallion, with power and intimidation from the western side. From the east came Jesus and his followers. He rode on a donkey–bringing peace, order, shalom. Zechariah 9:9b–10a

Mark 11:1–10; Luke 19:28–38; John 12:12–15

The crowd spread their cloaks, receiving Jesus as a king, but they didn't get what it was all about.

Which kingdom do we really want—Pilate's or Jesus? Are you willing to pay the price?

Following Jesus comes with the cost of persecution and rejection. If we face none, it may reveal compromise or conformity to the world. Are we influencing culture—or being influenced by it? True faith shares Christ boldly, just as the early disciples did. Let’s trust God with courage and live boldly for the One we serve.
