Sacrificial Giving, Part 3 —By Justin Renton & Solete Wilke

June 1, 2025

Sermon recap:

A glass bottle filled
with coins illustrating sacrificial giving following the example of Jesus.

Giving is an act of worship. While God doesn't need our money, there is a heart connection between giving and our wealth. We honour God by giving from the best we have in our income. Worship involves giving. We rob God by not giving what we promised to give. Giving is to God not man. God makes a distinction between giving to him and to people. Are you giving with strings attached? Trust him with your giving.

Giving is an act of gratitude (Solete):  We have a deep responsibility to take care of the church for the sake of our families.  The church is a place where we can reflect on his goodness and lay a foundation of faith for future generations.

Psalm 23 paints God as our shepherd—guiding, providing, and protecting. In Jesus, the Good Shepherd, we find the same care. Choose godly community over isolation, grow through mentorship, and live to reflect his love in a world that needs it daily, faithfully.

Jesus, the Bread of Life, meets our deepest needs. We chase power, comfort, and distractions, yet still feel empty. True satisfaction is found in him alone. Feed your soul daily with God’s Word before anything else, and let him be your centre.

Living like Jesus means denying self, sharing the gospel in every season, trusting God in hardship, and reaching the lost with grace, courage, and faith.
