Sacrificial Giving—by Ivor Botha, Erick Li Sik & Bridget Mokoteli

May 4, 2025

Sermon recap:

Erick:
We are called to excel in the grace of giving—it’s not just a duty, but a spiritual act of worship. Don’t take what you have for granted. Whatever you do, let it be done in service to Christ.

Bridget:
Many of us struggle with reasons not to give—like saying, “I’ll give when I have more.” But God calls us to be consistent and faithful in our giving. Set it aside intentionally, and don’t delay in fulfilling what you’ve committed to the Lord.

Ivor:
God has already given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him. Our giving reflects our view of who God is. Remember, King Jesus will hold us accountable for how we steward the blessings He’s entrusted to us.

Changing takes courage—but parenting God’s way means choosing His path, and knowing where our help comes from. Righteousness is about healing and strengthening relationships, not achieving perfection. Don’t conform to the world’s ways—seek God’s perspective on parenting. Model the behaviour you want to see, and let His Word draw your heart to your children, and theirs to yours. Be present in their spiritual journey—it's not optional, it's your responsibility.

We are like broken pieces of pottery. God went looking for us, he found the fragments of our lives discarded by life/shame/disappointment, and put us back with the blood of Jesus. Treat each other not as broken but perfected through Christ.

The Holy Spirit gives guidance and direction in our missionary work. Are we doing the work the Spirit has set aside for each one of us to do? He knows the time, place and person to reach out to. Are we listening and obeying when he nudges us? The Holy Spirit forms Christ in all of us and it's a lifetime journey. Seek to be filled. Listen to his voice. Step out boldly.
