March 23, 2025

Sermon recap:

Man on top of a mountain with arms raised in worship.

Xolani: You are exactly where you need to be. God glorifies himself through what happens to us, often when least expected.

Joshua 24:15b As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

Isaiah 61:3 God is always there, but it's up to us to recognise him in each situation.

Danie:

  1. Protect the flock. We hurt each other unintentionally.

Ephesians 4:29 Are you building others up? Make sure you don't hurt people through gossip and slander (Proverbs 16:28); 1 Timothy 5:13 Being busybodies.

Matthew 18 teaches how to deal with disagreements in a godly way.

Matthew 12:35-37 Be part of the solution.

2. Do not hurt the weak in the faith. Luke 17:1-2 Jesus has big concern for his flock. Luke 17:3-4 Forgive one another. We will all mess up at one time or another.

The Holy Spirit gives guidance and direction in our missionary work. Are we doing the work the Spirit has set aside for each one of us to do? He knows the time, place and person to reach out to. Are we listening and obeying when he nudges us? The Holy Spirit forms Christ in all of us and it's a lifetime journey. Seek to be filled. Listen to his voice. Step out boldly.

Giving is an act of trust. It is also not an obligation but an act of worship. Give from the heart, not as a duty, but as a way to express gratitude. Giving is about unity in the church, it is motivated by grace, not guilt, and a spiritual act of joyful worship. Jesus demonstrated sacrificial giving through his actions, leaving us an example to follow.

To embrace Jesus's mission, I must first clothe myself with Jesus and have his character formed in me. He must become greater, I must become less. Then I"ll be able to do as Jesus did. God's grace is with me. We need each other. Grace is a gift.
