Experiencing Jesus - by Jake Graham

Sermon recap:

In Luke 19:1–9, we learn that Zaccheus was a bad man in the eyes of the Jews, yet Jesus didn’t put him in his place; He went to his place. Instead of rejection, Zacchaeus experienced life-changing love, so how would I feel toward Zacchaeus, and what does it look like for me to truly experience Jesus like that?

In Luke 10:38–43, we learn that only one thing matters—to be next to Jesus. Distractions stop us from experiencing Him; our phones steal our attention, and we are too busy being Martha rather than Mary. Practically, give up screen time to be with Jesus—because in John 15:15 we learn are not servants but friends, called to share life with him. Don’t get comfortable if you’ve been around a long time; as the epistle to the Philippians 3:12 says, press on, you haven’t arrived yet. If you missed this service, you can watch it in full on our YouTube channel; the lesson starts at 51 mins.

Psalm 23 paints God as our shepherd—guiding, providing, and protecting. In Jesus, the Good Shepherd, we find the same care. Choose godly community over isolation, grow through mentorship, and live to reflect his love in a world that needs it daily, faithfully.

Jesus, the Bread of Life, meets our deepest needs. We chase power, comfort, and distractions, yet still feel empty. True satisfaction is found in him alone. Feed your soul daily with God’s Word before anything else, and let him be your centre.

Living like Jesus means denying self, sharing the gospel in every season, trusting God in hardship, and reaching the lost with grace, courage, and faith.
