Experiencing God, Part 2 – by Ivor Botha

February 23, 2025

Sermon recap:

Experiencing God. The Hebrew word  "Yada" means to know/ feeling with the heart

How do we get to know God? He makes himself known by displaying his power, his justice, his loving kindness, his word, Holy Spirit and through his forgiveness.

How well do I know God? Our view of God limits us (determined by my relationships, experiences).

Do I have a correct view of God?

*Zephaniah 3:17 God is with us. He delights/rejoices over you with singing.

*Hebrews 2:11 Jeaus is not ashamed of us We make the weak feel dispensable. It's okay to struggle as long as you don't give up.

The cross was his ultimate way to show us his love for us.

My Story, His Glory

We all start out the same way, fearfully and wonderfully made by God. The question is: How do you want your life story to play out? God's goodness pursues us. And while things in life won't work out just because you pray, the cross is the greatest evidence of God's goodness. What will you allow him to do in your life?

The Hebrew word "yada" means "to know" from the heart or by experience. While the word "relationship" is not in the Bible, it permeates the scriptures. God knows our hearts and our thoughts. We get to know him by being broken, humble, completely open and by making it our goal to know him.

We need to gather together to pray. Prayer must be the foundation of our Christian lives.
